I love the freedom I feel when shopping second hand, as well as the way it helps out the planet. That’s why I wanted to explore it more for my senior capstone project and dream up ways to invite more people into the second hand market.

This project was awarded the Tau Sigma Delta Bronze honor’s society bronze medal, showcased in the Ewing gallery’s honors Exhibition 2023, as well as an honorable mention at the 2023 Exhibition of Undergraduate Research and Creative Achievement (EURēCA).

Brand Attributes:

I wanted online second hand shopping to feel easier than before, and give shoppers the confidence to buy one of a kind products online. After taking inspiration from other brand’s targeting young adults I devised an identity that felt carefree and friendly.

These scenes illustrated are of characters rushing though a busy day, items that speak to the interests of young adults, and activities and symbols that relate to project's mission.

Resizing:

As items are sourced to be resold, they will be cleaned, repaired when necessary, measured, and branded with a Remark tag alongside the original tag. Items will then be listed on the site, and recategorized within Remark’s own universal sizing system, called RealFit.

RealFit:

As sizes vary between decades and brands RealFit, a universal sizing system, will streamline the online shopping experience and give shoppers the confidence to buy one of a kind items. A medium at one brand could be a small at another, or a large at the next.

The RealFit page on the website will walk the user through how to measure clothing they already own with a printable measuring tape. The user will then choose sizes based off those measurements and save their information to their user profile for an easier shopping experience.
